Brief description

The aim of the course is to combine the substantive competences obtained by students during courses on the main subfields of chemistry with language competences related to chemical terminology in English. This will allow passing at least one of the selected modules of the European competence test EChemTest. During the classes, students will be familiarized with the scope of mandatory material in order to pass the tests in the basic fields of chemistry at the undergraduate level, as well as with the technical aspects of taking the above-mentioned tests.

Acquiring the skill of using the statistical model to calculate thermodynamic functions (entropy, free energy, etc.) for specific chemical systems, to study chemical equilibria and to estimate rates of chemical reactions. Another, equally important objective of the course is to show students how the statistical model enables us to understand the laws of thermodynamics and the relation between the properties of individual molecules and properties of matter in the bulk

Brief description

(in Polish) Tematem wykładu są materiały polimerowe: homopolimery, kopolimery i nanokompozyty polimerowe. Kontrolowana polimeryzacja rodnikowa w procesach modyfikacji powierzchni (nano)materiałów. Dyskutowane są modele teoretyczne budowy łańcucha polimerowego i techniki pomiaru stopnia polimeryzacji, parametrów strukturalnych łańcucha polimerowego i wynikające z nich makroskopowe właściwości tych materiałów. Omówione zostaną metody identyfikacji, techniki przetwarzania i zastosowania polimerów w technice i życiu codziennym. Przedstawione zostaną kopolimery blokowe o zdolności do samoorganizacji, tworzące periodycznie uporządkowane struktury przestrzenne wykorzystywane do syntezy nanostrukturalnych membran i pokryć powierzchniowych.
