A diploma (licencjat) thesis demonstrates preparedness to conduct scientific research in the physical sciences. Preparedness to conduct scientific research may be demonstrated, in particular, by involvement in scientific research, including that conducted by a supervisor, or by discussion of a research problem in the physical sciences based on existing literature. |

A bachelor's thesis can be written in Polish or English. It should include a justification for the chosen topic and a contextualization of the topic within the broader context of the field covered by the thesis, a description of the research methods and results, a summary of the results, and conclusions drawn from them. The thesis should not exceed 30,000 characters. |

| Learning outcomes: |
K_W01: Has an advanced knowledge and understanding of the fundamental laws and concepts of classical and quantum physics, understands their historical development and significance for the progress of exact, natural, and technical sciences, understanding the world, and human development. K_W04: Has an advanced knowledge and understanding of computer science techniques and numerical methods necessary for solving physical problems, selected programming languages, operating systems, and basic software used in physics, including selected symbolic packages and numerical libraries. K_W05: Has an advanced knowledge and understanding of experimental techniques necessary for planning and conducting simple physical experiments in classical and quantum physics, and possesses the theoretical knowledge necessary to describe and interpret their results. K_W06: Has an advanced knowledge and understanding of the theoretical principles of operation of basic measurement systems and research equipment used in experiments, is aware of the technological, instrumental, and methodological limitations in scientific research, and knows the elements of measurement uncertainty theory as applied to physical experiments. K_W09, knows and understands the basic legal and ethical considerations related to research and teaching activities. K_W10, knows and understands the basic concepts and principles of industrial property protection and copyright, as well as the need to manage intellectual property resources. Can use patent information resources K_U01 Can use the tools of higher mathematics and mathematical methods of physics to describe and model basic physical phenomena and processes. Can independently reproduce theorems and equations describing basic phenomena and laws of nature. Can provide proofs of these theorems and laws. K_U02 Can plan, conduct, and interpret physical experiments of moderate complexity, working independently or in a team. K_U03 Can critically analyze the results of measurements, observations, or theoretical calculations, including a quantitative assessment of the accuracy of the results. K_U04 Can apply numerical methods, utilize numerical libraries, databases, and basic software used in physics, including a selected symbolic package. K_U05 Can clearly present and explain basic facts about phenomena and laws of physics, and communicate effectively with both specialists and non-specialists in the field of physics. K_U06 Can learn independently by finding necessary information in the professional literature, databases, and other sources, and by critically evaluating information from these sources. Unverified K_U07 can prepare a paper on a specific, assigned literature problem in physics, as well as a paper on their own research (experimental or theoretical), and present it in writing, orally, as a multimedia presentation, or as a poster, in both Polish and English. Depending on the topic of the work, individual learning outcomes may be implemented to varying degrees. |
| Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
The course is completed upon submission of a diploma thesis approved by the supervisor. The criteria for evaluating the thesis are set forth in the relevant resolutions of the Teaching Council. |
