Group theory deals with symmetry of systems. It is a basis of modern description of elementary particles and their interactions. Conclusions based on symmetry are more solid and fundamental than models and even theories. For S. Weinberg an elementary particle is just a product of the representations of the underlying symmetry groups. Topics: 1. Finite Groups 2. Lie Groups 3. SU(2) 4. Tensor Operators 5. Isospin 6. Roots and Weights 7. Simple Roots 8. SU(3) 9. Tensor methods 10. Hypercharge and Strangeness 11. SU(N) 12. SU(6) and Quark Model 13. Color 14. Grand Unification and SU(5) Prerequisites: Dobre zaliczenie wykładów z algebry i mechaniki kwantowej. Examination: Wykład: Egzamin pisemny. Ćwiczenia: Zaliczenie dwóch testów i zadań domowych. Nakład pracy studenta: Wykład 30h - udział w wykładzie - 1 ECTS 10h - przygotowanie do wykładów - 0.5 ECTS 10h - przygotowanie do egzaminu - 0.5 ECTS Ćwiczenia 15h - udział w ćwiczeniach - 0.5 ECTS 10h - przygotowanie do ćwiczeń i prace domowe - 0.5 ECTS 10h - przygotowanie do testów - 0.5 ECTS Razem: 3.5 ECTS Opis przygotowała M.
