This course examines how “gender” structures and is being structured within the domains of polity, economy, religion, violence, reproduction and resistance, in case of contemporary Polish society. It provides a comprehensive overview of the most crucial issues and debates related to Poland, gender and its intersections with class, level of ability, place of living, religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, and gender identity.

Ever social order, in its temporal, historical context, can be analyzed and described through gender lenses. In other words, every society represents certain gender regime, differently positioning men, women and those with non-binary and trans- gender identities within social structure. This course examines how “gender” structures and is being structured within the domains of polity, economy, religion, violence, reproduction and resistance, in case of contemporary Polish society. It provides a comprehensive overview of the most crucial issues and debates related to Poland, gender and its intersections with class, level of ability, place of living, religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, and gender identity. It brings together up-to-date knowledge presented in recent academic, research papers, which employ different methodological approaches (discourse analysis, individual interviews, biographical research) and different kinds of data, both quantitative and qualitative.
