ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): (not available) Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

The seminar covers wide range of topics in particle cosmology and astro-particle physics. All year version.

Full description:

The seminar commenced its activities in the academic year 2001/2002 in response to the world-wide outburst of research activity in the area of precision cosmology and cosmological tests of particle physics theories of fundamental interactions. The lectures describe, as much as possible at a pedagogical level, current research activities in this area, both theoretical and experimental. We invite as speakers renowned experts representing leading research centers in Poland and abroad.

Program:

Topics covered in the academic year 2007/2008 include cosmological inflation, cosmic microwave background anisotropies, formation of large-scale structure, dark matter, supersymmetric unification of fundamental interactions including gravity.

The talks should be accessible already to the 3rd year students as well as to interested non-experts.

Prepared by Zygmunt Lalak, February 2008.
